Stage to Stage

CCA HK APA Awardee 2021 – Collaborative Creative Arts Award, granted by the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts in 2021. Evelin Keller and Koala Yip (Senior Lecturer at the Hong Kong School of Creative Media) created and lead the **StageToStage** project. The project connects and transforms traditional and innovative ‘stages’ in response to the ‘New Normal’. The project was realized as a Site-Specific Dance Video Installation event, accompanied by a web-based platform. The **StageToStage project** is committed to adaptability, connectivity, and unity across multiple facets: creative, intellectual, and academic. In its first phase, it invited artists from Brazil, Taiwan, the USA, Germany, France, and Hong Kong.

Stage to Stage – The project commits to adaptiveness, connectivity and togetherness in multiple facets: creative, intellectual and scholastic.

Socially, we aim to provoke the creative community to take new challenges on artistic development, nurturing quality in performing arts practice. We want to share stories beyond production and to empower artist-audience connection in this narrative of our time.

This proposal aims to nurture artistic value in arts collaboration through dance composition, performance and appreciation. To empower the artists to collaborate, to connect and to inspire the viewers; to remind us of the importance of shared experiences of humanity in times of isolation and challenges.

Artistically, this project connects and transforms traditional and innovative performing “stages” in response to the “New Normal”. The project will be realized as a Site Specific Dance Video Installation event, accompanied by a customized designed web-based platform. 

The installation, served as “Virtual stage” will feature video images from artists. Audience will take on a journey to immerse into artists’ creative process from birth of their ideas to the final outcomes “Life Stage”. The collaborators are: Dancers (Hong Kong, Taiwan, Switzerland, Munich), Video Artist (Hong Kong) Musicians (Brazil). 
On-site (gallery/art space) video installation will be created. Audience will visit the installation while live performance will happen on designated time throughout the day. Material of the ‘Live performance and audience response” will then transform into an alternative narrative to the live performance and then feedback into digital stage, which creates a creative loop of “Stage To Stage”.
