Inventando História (EN)
“Inventando historia” is a seed project created by me in collaboration with artists and professionals in the fields of dance, theater, music and education in Salvador. We create a participatory performance for young audiences and families, as a starting point for social action to support educational artistic projects and practices that are accessible and sustainable in vulnerable communities.
The professionals and artists involved in this project, both as performers and creators, actively engage in their own teaching practices within social or private contexts. They have direct interactions with families, children, and youth, and they actively participate in their cultural community through festivals, performances, courses, and ongoing education. These professionals play a crucial role as mediators, fostering connections and nurturing cultural engagement in significant ways; daily classes, workshops and performances, and therefore, they bring this expertise into the role of mediator/performer in ”Inventando Historia”.
In December 2023, our project began with team building. From January to May, we held online meetings to familiarize ourselves with each other, getting to know the professionals involved and to understand the social landscape. Now, in May, we’re entering a two-week intensive phase, culminating in performances open to the general public and to four social projects. The schedule respects the constraints of balancing full time jobs of our artists, recognizing that many cannot afford to abandon their commitments for a temporary project, a reality to consider. We strategically selected a timeframe that aligns with a local holiday, allowing us to convene and collaborate without disrupting their professional obligations.
The main objective of this performance is to create an instant community, within this shared experience of curiosity, imagination, fun and interaction while encouraging emotional, sensitive and empathetic engagement with each other.
The thematic pillars guiding our project delve into the profound realms of time, memory, our ancestral heritage and cultural richness. In the exploration of time, memory, and cultural heritage, we uncover threads that bind us not only to our past but also to each other. Together, as we delve into the rich tapestry of our collective histories, we cultivate a deeper appreciation for the diverse narratives that comprise our human story. This shared journey fosters togetherness, as we recognize our interconnectedness and celebrate the bonds that transcend time and space.
Our History:
The idea for the Seed project, along with an interactive piece, is an old dream that was put on hold during the pandemic.
However, the music didn’t stop in time, as the compositions by Lan Lanh and her musical partners were already pulsing and crossing the ocean. In 2022, choreographies began to take shape in Hong Kong.
The project officially kicks off with the arrival of Bergson Nunes and Janahina Cavalcante at the end of 2023, who will form the professional team. The original cast in the areas of dance, theater, and education in Salvador consists of: Lissandra Patricia, Silara Aguiar, and Tariana Costa.
The first season, with two intense weeks of rehearsals and presentations/process exhibitions, took place from May 18 to June 5, 2024, in Salvador.
With process presentations on the following days:
30 Maio – Projeto Social Crianças da Vila – Engomadeira/Cabula
